Iain MacKay

Iain MacKay CMRS is a lifelong developer of information technology solutions for market research.

Iain was a founder of Pulse Train Technology, which amongst other things was a pioneer and worldwide supplier of CATI solutions. Iain is co-owner of X-MR Limited, a developer of online and video interviewing systems. X-MR has also been conducting political research, and earlier this year, with his colleague Geoffrey Roughton, Iain was awarded the MRS Silver Medal for a published paper describing wisdom-of-crowds investigation of recent British elections

Wendy Allen

Copywriting, Social Media & Digital

Wendy is a an advanced social media practitioner.  With copywriting skills, honed at the University of Hertfordshire, Wendy brings business ideas into marketing reality. Voted as one of Creativepool’s top ten copywriters, Wendy has won awards and worked in advertising agencies including Saatchi Direct and JWT. Her extensive experience enables clients to create memorable campaigns, develop a single-minded brand message throughout online and offline communications.  Today Wendy manages big brand and start-up social media campaigns across different platforms through a wide range of targeted sectors.

Mike Cooke

Chair of ESOMAR’s Legal affairs Committee.

Mike has been in research since 1973 and has held many industry positions. These include Vice President of ESOMAR, a Trustee of the Marketing Sciences Institute in the USA, and Vice Chairman of the British Market Research Society.

A well-known speaker on marketing research, who has authored many papers, Mike has won a number of awards for best paper. They include the ESOMAR Excellence Award for the Best Paper presented at any ESOMAR event in 2008 and the British Market Research Society’s “Research Effectiveness Award” for his research on music and education. In 1999 he was awarded the honorary post of Visiting Research Officer in Media studies at the University of Leeds in recognition of his work in the new media field.

He is a graduate of the London School of Economics, where he won both the Harold Laski Prize for Government and the LSE Undergraduate Scholarship. He also has a Masters degree in Political Behaviour, from the University of Essex.

Michael Mylne

Michael Mylne, Managing Director, is a member of the Middle Temple.
Called to The Bar in 2009 after a long business career as an owner of companies in the UK and abroad, he has considerable experience of running SME’s.
In addition to his legal expertise, particularly in employment law, he specialises in Contracts, Grievance and Disciplinary issues, HR Policies, processes & implementation as well as Data Protection with particular reference to GDPR 2018.


Tony Dent

Conference Chairman

Tony is chairman of CMR Group and founder and past chairman of Sample Answers Ltd. 

He was also chairman of the Industrial Market Research Association (now Business Interest Group) and past chairman of AIMRI (the Alliance of International Research Institutes).  He is a frequent speaker and author of chapter on “Estimating Product Market Size” in Kogan Page Handbook on Business Market Research.

Adam Phillips

Adam Phillips is a research consultant and Managing Director of Real Research.

He was Chairman of the ESOMAR Professional Standards and Public Affairs Committees for 15 years and in 2015 won their prestigious John Downham Award. He has been MD of both AGB Nielsen Media Research and Euroquest, a European research network which specialised in public opinion and media research, Deputy MD of BMRB, MD of Mass-Observation and CEO of Winona Research in the USA. He also worked as a market research officer for Unilever. He is a Fellow and past Chairman of MRS and currently serves on the Executive Editorial Board of the IJMR. He has also been a member of the Press Complaints Commission and Chairman of the Financial Services Consumer Panel.

Adam Williams

 Adam Williams has worked in sales and marketing for almost 30 years.

For the last 22 years Adam’s career has been solely in the direct marketing industry, initially as a Sales Director for data products, then Business Development Director driving digital and data driven sales and marketing solutions and since 1994 as MD and CEO of DBS Data. Adam heads up a professional team of thought leaders with a combined experience in data solutions of over 100 years. He instils each member of his team with a passion for delivering creative data driven sales and marketing solutions always within a compliant environment. Compliance is Adam’s primary driver, data protection and compliance feeds every process, every project and every task that his team undertakes.

Ben Leet

Ben is Chief Customer Officer for delineate, a strategic research and data consultancy headquartered in London.

Prior to delineate Ben held senior leadership positions with YouGov UK and uSamp Europe. He has been a frequent contributor to conferences and seminars.
